#55 - Doing the Hard things
To create career of your own you got to start doing the hard things first
👋 Hey, I’m Kumar and welcome to my weekly newsletter. Each week I share Sketchnote(s) on product, leadership, personal growth, and anything that helps you get started on Sketchnoting.
If I’m taking action, putting in my reps, and trying things out, then I should remain patient and see what opportunities arise. But if I’m not taking action consistently, then I’m not practising patience. I’m just waiting

Do the Hard Things
While on vacation a book in my friends book shelf caught my attention. Career Manifesto by Mike Steib. It was the illustration of arrows pointing towards different directions enclosed in the circle and the first word - discovery that stood out for me.
As a visual thinker we are always on the journey of discovering an apt visual to represent and manifest our thoughts.
First thing that author asks is to do the hard things and to be true to yourself for growing your career.
If you keep doing the same things, you’ll keep getting the same results. To grow exponentially you’ll have to bring changes to THE WAY YOU DO THINGS. Here’s the sketchnote that summarises first chapter.
I have tried style of Eva Lotta Lamm in this sketchnote.
Sketchnote Inspiration of the week
Here’s a sketchnote inspiration of the week. This is from my office. What caught my attention was the size of this sketch. It was roughly 4ft x 6ft in dimension. It looks bit old hence the colors have faded out but the content still looks fresh with dynamic structure, information organisation, and color hierarchy.
Another great thing about this sketchnote is the visual hierarchy established by Typography - size and style. If you observe closely the title and milestone text are all in upper case while addon text or call out are in sentence case. And then creating a sequence of information using arrows with curve to show dynamism.
The sketchnote also gives a clear indication of facilitator shown in black t-shirt.
