#92 - Visual Framework at work
How I used visual framework to overcome anxiety and prepare well for a workshop
Sitting at my desk I was worried preparing for the workshop. I was frantically moving between tabs on browser and the sketchbook.
Many thoughts were running through my head “what if I wasn’t able to deliver the content properly, will the students think me dumb, I will run over the time and not able to finish the topics, and so on”.
My finger were shivering and throat going dry.
That’s when I recalled the visual framework I demonstrated in the weekly warmup.
The Hot Air Balloon.
I send out weekly newsletter packing content on Sketchnotes and using them in day to day life. Also my experiments, experiences, learning, and mistakes.

Visual Framework at work - Hot Air Balloon
It’s been a hectic week as I got to conduct workshop on AI for Designers at a national level Design college. While I had content in place I was anxious about the actual workshop. The visual framework came in handy to externalize my thoughts and rethink the format and structure of the workshop.
With the visual of Hot Air Balloon in place I started thinking of what can go wrong and writing it down. The visual hook was powerful enough to give me clarity of my thoughts.
The workshop went really well with students designing an AI product using AI tools.
Students appreciated learning to think on paper before jumping to prompts on AI tools. Thinking on paper was clear winner against AI tool when it came to ingenuity, authenticity, and creativity. AI tool scored well on finish, variety of solutions, and references.
Storytelling technique
I was sitting on my couch surfing youtube videos, thinking on how to present my case studies. My eyes were wide and I exclaimed wow immediately as I saw the title of one video which read “Improve your Storytelling by 176%”. I told myself this is what I want.
I used the same technique to open this article and here is a visual summary for you
Visual Thinking journey
I came across an amazing article on how to start Visual Thinking journey. I somehow missed saving the link to the article, so couldn’t tag the author here. Let me know if you come across it.
There’s an amazing article on Brief history of Graphic Recording.
Frameworks for Systems Thinking
Last week during weekly warmup I discussed about Visual Frameworks for Systems Thinking and when to use it. Here is a visual summary of it.
And a Jatin Kapadia captured the session very nicely in his sketchnote.
Using Ugly sketches for great presentations
Last but not the least here’s a story of how ugly sketches helpd Martin win project.
That’s all I have for today.
