#84 - What's your motivation to join this newsletter
A compilation of your motivations to join TheSketchnoters community
Once in a while it’s great to reflect 🪞 on the journey 🧗🏼.
I started this newsletter in February 2021. That’s 4 insane 🤩 years.
It started stumbling over weeks and months till last year when made it my mission to be consistent every week. And I can say I have achieved almost 95% of my mission of sending out content on various topics using sketchnotes.
I have a separate website where it prompts you to get started on this Sketchnoting journey. And it leads to a joining form.
One of the questions in that form is “What makes you subscribe”. There are 501 responses, whom I get them subscribed manually. This was when my newsletter was on Revue (Twitter). Remember Twitter? It’s X now 😁
Now people join directy on Substack. I got to find a way to capture motivations of Substack subscribers 🙃
So here I present a sketchnote of those motivation.
Nothing so much assists learning as
writing down what we wish to remember.

Inputs summarized
I used ChatGPT to summarise the inputs. I made sure your names, email id or any personal data weren’t part of the file given to ChatGPT as input 🤝

For the subscribers who joined directly on Substack let me know in comments what motivated you to subscribe to my newsletter?
Some key Takeaways from the responses, I need to act on !
• Focus on learning and teaching sketchnoting techniques: A large portion of your audience is interested in learning, so sharing tutorials, tips, and breakdowns of your process will resonate.
I have already started doing sessions online via Weekly Warmup sessions. It was happening earlier but now it’s available in a structured format. There are BIG plans on the way.
• Leverage the visual learning appeal: Many people are visual learners, so emphasizing how sketchnoting helps with memory and comprehension could engage these subscribers.
• Create content around simplifying complex ideas: Since your audience appreciates this, you could offer case studies or examples of how sketchnotes can distill complex subjects.
I read and learn everyday. I am making sure that I sketchnote everyday and share my learning about personal and professional growth on various platform to make learning easy.
• Incorporate professional use cases: Show how sketchnotes can be applied in business settings, such as in presentations, training, or brainstorming sessions.
This I am doing as part of my weekly warmup session wherein I take up a visual framework and walk the audience through how to use it in different scenarios.
• Engage with curious newcomers: Regularly introduce sketchnoting concepts, explaining its benefits and why it’s a valuable skill.
This is something I have been missing. Let me know in comments how can I make it more engaging experience.
That’s all I have for today.
Happy Sketchnoting.
I joined to be a part of and support the global sketchnote community, and I really enjoy your work.
For me it was about connecting with a fellow creator.
