#117 - đď¸ Seeing vs Looking đ
I was looking at the meeting. I wasnât seeing it
Last week, I sketchnoted a meeting exactly the way I always do.
Boxes. Arrows. Bullet points.
Everything captured. Nothing understood.
When I looked at my notes later, they were⌠accurate.
And completely useless.
Thatâs when I realized something uncomfortable.
I was looking at the meeting.
I wasnât seeing it.
đ Hey, Iâm Kumar and welcome to my weekly newsletter. Each week I share Sketchnote(s) on product, leadership, personal growth, and anything that helps you get started on Sketchnoting.
So I opened the page again and asked a different question:
What actually mattered here?
I redrew the sketchâthis time with fewer words and more intent.
One decision. One tension. One unresolved question.
That second sketch taught me more than the meeting itself.
Learning
Seeing is not about recording more.
Itâs about noticing what deserves attention.
This year, as I write Learning in Lines, I want to explore this gapâ
between what we capture and what we understand.
Invitation:
Think about your last meeting.
What did you look atâbut not really see?
If you sketch, redraw one note today.
If you donât, just notice.
Thatâs where learning begins.
Thatâs all for today. See you next week.
Thank you for reading Letsketchin. đĽ§

This is good. I know when I try to sketchnote a talk there are times where I get so focused on capturing evening I miss the main message. Great reminder here.
